Seriously if you like the Evil Dead series, Braindead (aka Dead Alive) or Re-animator, you are going to love Black Sheep. I saw this at the Toronto film festival. This is why I selected this film:
If this movie poster does not tell you everything you need to know about this movie, then you should not see it. If, however, this poster fills you with glee and joy at the possibilities, then Black Sheep is definitely for you.
The Peter Jackson connection is quite clear. Weta Workshop did the special effects. Weta being the special effects company that was founded in New Zealand to do the special effects for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. However the true connect to Peter Jackson is the style of this film. Very reminiscent of Peter Jackson's early films, Bad Taste and Brain Dead (aka Dead Alive). The comedy splatter horror genre has been poorly served as late, but Black Sheep is sure to become another classic. That is, if it makes it to North America. Even as a DVD only release, I will definitely be buying this.
