English Title: How I Spent the End of the World
Cum mi-am petrecut sfarsitul lumii is a Romanian movie, telling a relatively simple story. It chronicles the life of a family (focusing on the two children) during the months leading up the to the end of the Communist rule and the over throw of Caucesceau. I was expecting a more politically charged film, instead it really focuses on the basic conflicts in the life of this family. The effects of the oppressive government are all there, but not in a blatent way. They are shown as a child might percieve them, as simple facts of life.
The movie succeeding in telling its story. As a slice of life style film, that all it really needed to do. It did get a bit slow a times, however in the end I enjoyed it.
I saw this movie at the Toronto International Film Festival.
