These are my favourite restaurants that I eat at regularly. Where "regularly" means that I would eat there for an average dinner, as opposed to special occasions.
- The Cameron Chinese Restaurant. I go to the Cameron a lot. For a while it was probably a once a week kind of restuarant. I eat out less now, but I can still go to the Cameron any time and be happy. They serve a good Dim Sum every day for lunch and fairly traditional chinese food for dinner. However if you go for dinner please, don't order the "White people" combos of Chicken Balls, Chow Mein and egg rolls. Look beyond the first few pages and discover all the far more exciting dishes that can be found on the later pages.
- Ben Thanh. This is the best Viet - Thai food in Kitchener-Waterloo. I love the soups, curries and shakes. The combo platters are pretty good too. The major complaint with Ben Thanh is the unreliable service. It is not unusual to have the food brought out in a random order (mains before appetizers, shakes last) or to have the wrong food delivered to your table. They gotten better about that last one, but the food still arrives in random order.
- Masala Bay. The best North Indian food in Waterloo. I love the Aloo ki Chaat, the Dal Makhani and the Saffron rice. Two issues, first, I don't like their Naan, (although I've heard they have been improved) and they are more expensive than the others on this list. Enough so that I may not eat there regular enough to justify the presence on this list.
- YummiYaki. As far as Japanese (Korean) restaurants go, I like going to YummiYaki for the all you can eat meal. Get a couple friends and chow down.
