One word review: indie

Ah Little Miss Sunshine. In the pressLittle Miss Sunshine seems to be one of those love it or hate it kinds of movies. However amongst the people I've talked to, there seems to be much more middle ground. It definitely has funny scenes and characters. Alan Arkin's, Grandpa is the funniest character in the movie, with Steve Carell's Frank a close second. Olive's big finale is unquestionably worth seeing, however much of the rest of the movie falls a bit flat. Many of the "touching" moments did not really work for me, and the other main characters did not really stand out. In particular, Dwayne, the brother and Sheryl, the mother, did very little for me.

One of the criticisms I have heard raised about this film, and one that I will agree with, is that is it almost stereotypically Indie. Meaning that all characters and events you would expect in an Indie film are here. This sounds almost like an oxymoron, but it manages to be true.
